Our Mission:
To provide resources and encouragement to teens and families affected by depression.
Our HistoryAs the authors, Sherry Krueger and Kristi Barth, were teaching together in Oregon, one of them had to take an extended leave because their child was in the hospital. It was finally shared that her child had attempted suicide. This news hit home for the other teacher, as her child had struggled with depression and also had tried hurting themselves.
With such personal things shared, a bond was forged. You see, mental illness is not something that people talk about easily. There is a stigma attached and you risk losing friends and having people judge you for your child’s illness. As both educators tried to find resources to help their teens, none were found. An idea formed that they would create a resource for teens and their parents to help the youth as they went through their daily struggles. Four years later Jared’s Journal was ready to print and get into your hands. This book is a heartfelt effort to support kids and families suffering with depression, letting them know they are not alone. The authors have lived all of what you will read, and they felt compelled to tell Jared’s story in hopes that it will touch someone’s life before they become a tragic statistic.
